***Comish survives sound-weapon assasination attempt

A Primitive Wide Dispersal L-RAD
Sources inside the Commissioner's Office and the FAA have revealed that the Commissioner has survived a likely assassination attempt last Friday while on board a plane.  Shortly after take-off on American Airlines flight 713 to Dallas, over Long Island Sound, a feeling of intense pain overtook the leader of the PSAS, causing him to behave erratically for several minutes before writhing in the aisle and finally being restrained by his staff.  Representatives of the CO's security detail now believe that the culprit was a so called "signature" LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device) weapon. Unlike declassified LRADs which are used in wide dispersal for crowds, signature weapons base their acoustics on precise biomeasurements of the target and their effect can be deadly.

The target in this case appears to have been the inner-ear of the supreme leader of the PSAS.  The Commish is reported to have suffered a ruptured ear drum in the attack.  Braedon Keller, head of security for Consec speculated that "It was only the commissioner's uncommonly strong telekinetic powers that save his life.  He must have scanned that an attack was in process and diverted it only seconds before his head exploded."

It is unknown how the embattled commissioner will function without the use of his right ear for three months or more, or whether his hearing will return in full.  League rebels, growing in power for several months have not yet claimed responsibility for the attack.  Judy Killfile an analyst for the league's intelligence arm speculated, "if this is indeed a rebel attack it shows growing  boldness and sophistication, as well as possible insider information." As of press time, the Commissioner had not yet made a statement, but is believed to be resting in seclusion inside a league safe house in New York City.  Ms Killfile noted: "though he's been a benevolent leader so far, the Commish is a ruthless antagonist.  Retaliation could be swift and public."
