Week 5 Power Rankings

Week 4 saw the big move to the middle as 8/14 teams now sit at 2-2.  With two undefeated and two winless, and 1 each a game above and below .500, nobody is out of play.  In fact nobody knows how many wins it will take to be in the top six this year. 8? 7? Straight-points tie breaker with half the league in play?  There are 9 more weeks to the regular season and four more bye weeks. This week had a big uptick in production with a 117.3 average score - 6/14 over 120 and 12/14 over 100.

1. (1)  Polk High Panthers  (4-0) - The Panthers capitalized on some comeback ATL offense to ice the victory and hand HSNB their first defeat. F-Jax's roll continues to grow.  Calvin and Green are true WR1. The Law Firm's seeming eclipse as Bengals'
RB may cost them down the stretch but there's a hot hand in HOTlanta. 4 is good enough for a share of the Zeus' lightning bolt for longest active win streak.

2. (T. 2) TakingTigerMountain (4-0) - How much is the double titration worth? How about 40% plus of TTM's attack in the last two weeks.  Still undefeated when Brees-Jimmer connect the Mountain rolls on with a key win over last year's champion.  Still, huge question marks abound, Spiller keeps getting dinged in an offense that doesn't seem geared to using him as high value as he was drafted, Bradshaw is now an injured handcuff, Pierce's moment in the sun appears to be over, but there's value in the W's and the Mountain now has them in spades along with some style points this week.

3  (5) Grossman Sachs (2-2) - The Commish is back to his winning ways with a 2nd high score. Trading Arian away didn't seem to hurt too much as AP continues to be a force unto himself. As long as Manning and AP are the tops of scoring in their positions the Bank can cut their own checks.  Critics will be counting the points down the stretch to see how Marshall/Jones Bernard/Foster stack up.

T 4. (T. 2) Homespun Neckbloodz  (3-1) - The Cyclotron dropped their first game of the year against a Al Bundy's squad as they were unable to get anything going among position players outside of Forte and Johnson.  Cutler would have been an improvement over Dalton, but it's a case of surviving until S-Jax shores up their run game here.

T. 4  (T6) Pelican Brief - (2-2) - The Dirty Birds kicked their way to a MNF comeback to take the Raiders by 4. CJ?K had his worst game of the season, but top flight performances by Welker and Thompkins turned the page.  It's early but the Manning/Brady trade meter is currently running 123.01/63.01 total points.  Or a little less than 2-1. Allegiance to Brady has cost them so far, how will it serve them down the stretch?

6. (4) BuildingDwellingThinking (2-2) - BDT couldn't withstand the withering fire of the Brees-Graham double titration MNF attack.  A victory here would have been huge, but they had a tough row to hoe with Deangelo and Finley on bye. Rice appears to be healthy, although the Ravens weren't in much of a mood to run the ball Sunday.  As long as Dez is unguardable they'll be top half.

7. (9) Phat Girlz (2-2) - The Girlz got LARGE and move into the top half with the high score of the week/year. Led by a beastly 2 TD game for Sproles, the Phat Ones got serviceable work from all their position players.  IDP ripped off 39.6 points and that's going to be hard to beat any week. Prater is the top kicker by points with 49.  Lamar Miller looked good even in defeat, he could be a 1k rusher if the Dolphins win some down the stretch.

 8. (7)  Dijonaise All Stars (2-2) - Col. Mustard and Co. dropped their second straight in a battle of the expansion franchises.  This one hurt as it was  winnable, but Arian shined in his Yellow debut.  Jones, the other half of the trade had a bye, so Dijon handicapped themselves this week and got nipped.

9. (8) TuskenRaiders (2-2) - The Raiders took a top-five score and a lead into Monday night and got knocked off by Pelican's kicker. Charles continues to carry the load, while passing back Woodhead had his best game of the season.  Denver's stifiling of D-Jax left the Raiders vulnerable to the comeback here.

10. (10) Aethernauts (2-2) - The Nauts took their teed up victory over the Stylez and pulled back to .500.  Lynch M0b led the way with a big rushing attack and R-burger was passable in a bye week fill-in roll.  The scheduling gods were kind to the Nauts with their double-titration unavailable for a game where their help wasn't needed.

11. (11)  Goslings (2-2) - The Goslings picked up their second straight victory and pulled to .500. They got their Luck-Wayne double titration and not whole lot else.  They were lucky to walk away with a victory in this one. But Levon Bell's good showing gives the Goslings hope for a little more meat on the bone in the near future.

12. (12) Trichs (1-3)  - The Trichs put up a triple digit but got thumped by the G0dbank.  Run DMC injured, MJD still playing on the worst team in football.  Boldin/Gore did their job and Keeper-nick vs Vick still a push.

13.  (14) SanFranciscoFerries  (0-4) - The Ferries showed signs of improvement putting up their first triple digit and their best number of the year. Unfortunately they got smashed by the Girlz girth and now sit in a big old hole.  Is this the week of Gronk's return?  This time it was Rivers shining on the bench while low-ceiling Wilson barely dented a tough Huston D.

14. (13)  PrimordialLifestyles (0-4) - Several good things happened for the Stylez. Schaub had his best game yet. Demaryius continues to shine with Peyton.   T-Rich is the workhorse in a decent offense.   It just wasn't enough to pick up a victory.
