Steve Cramer - PSAS Entertainment Reporter
Wes Welker recently released his first film since signing with the Denver Broncos. As with most of his work, "Man Without A Seat" is a very dense work of art. Recently I had a chance to speak with Wes about his film.
Steve Cramer: Wes, thanks for taking the time to talk. It's a pleasure to speak with you again.
Wes Welker: Steve, I wish I could say the same. I find no pleasure in explaining my art.
Cramer: Well let's jump right in and talk about "Man Without A Seat."
Welker: The premise is simple. A man is on a quest to find a seat on a flying machine. He has a ticket which says he has a seat but he does not know where his seat is. It tears him up inside.
Cramer: I think you made a brilliant choice here. In the shot before the actor has clearly just boarded the plane but in the very next shot the plane is airborne. Talk about this choice.
Welker: Yes. The man without a seat is clearly in a purgatory type space surrounded by obese man. This is not our reality. Did the man actually enter the plane "Executive Decision" style? Not likely. Is this man dead? Yes.
Welker: These men torture our man with their grilled meats. This is my homage to the hot dog condiment train from Aykroyd's brilliant experimental film "Nothing But Trouble."
Welker: Yes. The wing demon haunts our man. Chases him in his dreams.
Welker: There is no escaping the wing demon. There is only death...and the reliable coverage of State Farm Insurance.
